Program Notes:

"The Snow Is Falling Down" is a re-imagination of the movement of snow in musical form. In the city where the composer grew up, snowy weather rarely happened. The snowy weather only happened twice in his childhood memories. Memories from childhood are usually mumbled and ambiguous. So, the composer chooses contemporary harmonic language and a pantonality approach to show the unclear memories of the snowy scene. The form of this piece is symmetrical, showing the melodic materials in different order when they repeat. The orchestration is light, floating, continuous, and like a soundscape. Even if the modality and tonality are totally reconstructed, the composer still wants to make the melodic materials memorable, lyrical, and mysterious.
