Program Notes:

This piano concerto represents my personal journey as a composer, a path I never anticipated before entering Berklee. Initially drawn to the works of Beethoven, Ravel, and Debussy, I quickly faced the realization that my style was considered “old-fashioned” in a curriculum focused on post-mid-20th-century music.

While I value my education, I felt the process often overlooked the essence of composition: the expression of one’s self and emotions. Over the past year, I channeled my struggles and inspirations into this piece, blending elements of classical, jazz, rock, and even game music.

My hope is that this concerto resonates with audiences on a personal level, allowing them to appreciate it simply because “it sounds good.” It’s a reflection of my growth, my influences, and my desire to connect emotionally, capturing the essence of my journey through my years at Berklee.
